Responsible Spending & Taxpayer Fairness

Zero-based budgeting in my ward office — every dollar justified, every program reviewed for need, results, and value to taxpayers. I'll push council to do the same. We'll scrutinize non-mandatory spending before it gets approved.

Everyone who can pay their taxes should. No one should be subsidizing a system that isn't working for them while the people who can contribute walk away. Review tax exemptions, push for fairness in assessment, and make sure the city stops asking ordinary taxpayers to cover for poor decisions made elsewhere.

Safer Streets & Neighbourhoods

Permanent, trained police foot patrols on King and James Streets. Not seasonal, not occasional — permanent. Officers need the resources to enforce illegal drug sales and connect people to treatment. We also need the province to step up funding for addiction and mental health services. I will lobby our local MPPs and, if need be, go to Queen's Park myself to make sure the funding is there to handle our mental health crisis.

Expand the Hamilton Police Service's mental health crisis response teams to 24/7 coverage. When the existing team is busy, an officer with minimal training handles the call — and people end up in criminal court instead of getting help.

Downtown Revitalization

Ward 2's core is Hamilton's front door. Support small businesses, push for faster permit processing, clean up the public realm, and make King and James Streets places people want to be — not places they avoid.

HPS foot patrols in the downtown core will make it safer — and allow everyone in this city to explore everything the downtown has to offer. The restaurants, the shops, the culture, the nightlife — all of it should be open to every Hamiltonian who wants to enjoy it.

Housing & Homelessness

Hamilton's homelessness response has gaps that cost us all — money, safety, and trust. The Barton Tiffany shelter investigation showed what happens when oversight fails. I'll push for transparent reporting, accountability on homelessness spending, and real pathways from encampment to stable housing.

The Jamesville non-profit buildings need to start now. People are sleeping outside today — we can't wait until 2031 for shovels in the ground. I'll push the city to accelerate construction and pursue provincial and federal funding to get those projects moving within my first term.

Responsive Constituent Service

Every call and email returned within 24 business hours. Solving the problem may take longer — but you will hear from us, and you will know someone is working on it. No more silence, no more "we'll look into it" and nothing happens.
